Silent Valley National Park
Silent Valley National Park, nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats in Kerala, is a pristine and ecologically significant region renowned for its untouched natural beauty and rich biodiversity. It is a part of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve. Visitors can take a bus or jeep safari from the Kerala Forest Department office for a fee between 8.30am and 1.30pm. Please ask the management for the booking office’s contact information. Located 13 km from Iyer Square.
Kanjirapuzha Dam
The Kanjirapuzha Dam is located on the Kanjirapuzha River. It looks over the stunning “Vettilachola”, a densely-covered green forest area near the catchment area. Visitors can climb on top of the dam, and relax in the garden area near the foot of the structure, which has activites for children. Located 35 km from Iyer Square.
Marudhamalai Murugan temple
A 12th-century temple believed to be built by Tamil kings during the Sangam period, situated near Coimbatore city, dedicated to Lord Murugan. The main sanctum is located at the top of Marudhamalai hill, at the end of an 800-step staircase with a stunning view. Located 53 km from Iyer Square.
Karamadai Shri Ranganathar Swamy temple
A 11th-century Chola temple dedicated to Vishnu (Ranganathaswamy) and Lakshmi (Ranganayaki) situated at Karamadai, near Mettupalayam. It is considered one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition. Tirumalai Nayakar of the Madurai Nayakar dynasty and Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar of the Mysore Wodeyar dynasty have also contributed to its expansion. Ramanujacharya, the expounder of Vaishnadvaita philosophy is believed to have visited the temple on his way to Melkote from Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple, and has a shrine in the temple. Located 55 km from Iyer Square through a forest route (access only from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm), and 67 km through Coimbatore city.
Isha Yoga Center, Coimbature
The Isha Yoga Center situated at the foothills of Velliangiri, on the outskirts of Coimbatore. Visitors can visit the iconic 112-feet tall Adiyogi, and the Dhyanalinga and Linga Bhairavi sanctums. Located 70 km from Iyer Square.
Local hiking and river bathing spots
There are many places in Attapadi where visitors can take a hike, such as Narasimukku, Achanmukku, Abbanur, and bathe in Bhavani and Siruvani rivers at Thavalam, Parappanthara, Agali, Kottathara, Mattathakkad. Please note that access may be restricted by the forest department and police during summer due to water shortage and animal movement. We do not recommend visiting areas close to the forest border after 5 pm.
